Course Overview

 

The Access to HE Diploma (Veterinary Science) provides students with a thorough understanding of the biological and chemical principles related to animal health and welfare. This course is designed to prepare students for Higher Education leading to careers in veterinary science, animal care, and related fields. Students will acquire key knowledge, subject-specific skills, and transferable skills essential for success in these areas.

 

This self-directed course, which can be completed 100% online, is tailored for individuals seeking to study veterinary nursing or veterinary physiotherapy at university. It offers a flexible and structured approach, enabling you to balance your studies with other commitments. The course typically takes approximately 12 months to complete but could be completed in less time depending on each individual learner’s study commitment.

 

Applicants must be at least 19 years old at the start of the course. Access to HE courses are highly regarded by universities. All content is available online and is self-paced. You will have access to an Academic Mentor, who will provide both academic and pastoral assistance throughout your studies.

 

Once you have completed the Access course successfully, you can apply for one of our animal-related degrees in FdSc Veterinary Nursing, FdSc Applied Animal Behaviour and Conservation, or BSc (Hons) Veterinary Physiotheraphy.

Entry Requirements

The course is ideal for those who do not have the required scientific background or biology qualifications required to be considered for a university degree course. This Veterinary Science pathway is suitable for those looking to gain entry to a university degree course in an animal-related or veterinary-related pathway.

Please note, candidates must have at least five GCSEs to take this course, including:

  • GCSE English Language at Grade 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths at Grade 4 or above.

Candidates must also have the ambition to progress to university study in a related field.
