Course Overview

The RHS Level 2 Certificate is awarded upon successful completion of two core units:

  2. RHS Certificate in Principles of Plant Growth and Development

Our unique delivery combines both practical hands-on experience and theoretical learning, allowing you to develop core horticultural skills throughout the year. You'll gain practical experience in a wide range of tasks, ensuring you understand both the science and practice of horticulture.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Plant Identification – Learn how to identify a wide variety of plants, key species, and their uses in the landscape.
  • Plant Establishment & Propagation – Understand the process of planting and propagating plants to ensure their successful establishment in the garden.
  • Plant Health, Care & Pruning – Learn techniques to care for and maintain plant health, including effective pruning methods.
  • Turf Establishment & Maintenance – Study turf management, from establishment to long-term maintenance, and understand how to maintain garden features.
  • Garden Feature Maintenance – Gain essential knowledge in maintaining structures and features in the garden to keep them in top condition.

Throughout the course, your learning will be assessed through a mix of practical activities and ongoing written assignments. You’ll also complete a final exam and an End Point Assessment, conducted by an external RHS examiner at One Garden, to demonstrate your knowledge and skills.
