Aquamaintain Ltd are seeking an excavator operator for assisting in the delivery of on-site works including erosion control, aquatic habitat enhancement and fishery management. This is a full time, permanent post. The Company operates nationally and therefore requires its employees to work away from home to fulfil contracts.

JOB PROFILE

Aquamaintain Ltd operates throughout the UK providing specialist consultancy and contracting services for the management of freshwater environments and in particular sport fisheries. We work for a multitude of clients including local authorities, charities, government bodies and private individuals. Projects can range from small-scale local restoration and maintenance contracts to nationally important river restoration schemes taking several months to complete. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop their understanding and skill of bioengineering, light civil engineering, construction and fishery management. On-going training will be given.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To supply general plant operator assistance to the operations teams as directed.

KEY DUTIES

• Assist in the delivery of construction, restoration and maintenance activities

• Assist in fishery management and maintenance activities

• Communicating with other team members and site foreman

• Operating and maintaining our fleet of plant

 

 

 

POSITION IN ORGANISATION

Reports directly to Site Forman, Project Manager/Engineer & Operations Manager.

Due to the varied nature of the role and tasks involved, close liaison with other members of the teams is essential.

SCOPE OF JOB

Assist with the on-site delivery of restoration schemes, fishery management and maintenance activities. Tasks include;

• Bioengineering (faggoting, hazel spiling brushwood revetments)

• Light civil engineering and construction (groundwork, swim building, piling, bridge construction, culvert and headwall installation)

• Landscaping (footpaths, hard standings, bank re-profiling)

• Pond and wetland construction

• Dredging

• Working from pontoons

• Fencing

• Weed cutting/removal

• Tree work

REQUIREMENTS

• A fishery management qualification, ideally a first degree or equivalent practical experience

• Have an understanding of ecology, construction and engineering, fishery management and river restoration

• CSCS 360 operators card or equivalent

• Experience in operating excavators

• Experience operating plant in the water environment

• Experience maintaining plant and machinery

• Experience of working on construction sites and with site health and safety procedures (preferred but not essential as onsite training will be given)

• Experience of operating plant, tools and machinery

• Working knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Must be physically fit and able to swim

• Based locally or willing to relocate

• Good time keeper

• Full clean driving licence

REMUNERATION

Salary: Starting at £35,000 - £40,000 PA, depending on experience.

Benefits: Pension, fuel allowance, company vehicle

Probationary period: 6 months.
