Description
Calancombe Estate is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated and energetic person to join its small and friendly team to carry all tractor operations on our vineyard -this could either be on an employed basis or self-employed contract basis.
This requirement includes all vineyard spraying using a LIPCO curtain sprayer, mowing the vineyards, under vine spraying, ordering chemicals and managing the chemical store, maintenance of spray records, strimming, preparing logs, supporting harvest as necessary and general day to day maintenance of tractor and vineyard equipment.
Calancombe Estate near Modbury, South Devon is family owned and extends to approximately 23 hectares and comprises almost 8 hectares of vines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Précoce, Bacchus, Ortega, Pinot Gris and Madeleine Angevine. In addition to vines, we grow apples and blackcurrants from which we make delicious still and sparkling cyder, apple brandy and cassis. The Calancombe Estate is also home to Dartmouth English Gin and Dartmouth Navy Strength Gin.
It is essential that you:
• Have good tractor training and experience
• Hold a PA1, PA3 and PA6 spray certificates
• Ideally will have experience of using a LIPCO curtain sprayer or happy to learn
• Are able to undertake basic day-to-day maintenance of tractor and vineyard equipment
• Hold a UK driving licence
• Have the right to work in the UK
Pay-Rates of Pay will be based on experience/qualifications and depend on the basis of employment but likely in the range £30,000 -£40,000 p.a.
Weekend/evening working may be required to ensure spraying can be undertaken in suitable weather conditions.
