Equipment and Kit Lists
Studying a 14-16, Level 1, 2, 3 or Foundation Learning course? Here, you'll find equipment you may be required to purchase ahead of your start date and some equipment you may be required to purchase after you start and throughout your course.
Our approved supplier of college branded clothing is LA Clothing. With LA Clothing, you will be able to purchase some of the course-specific clothing. Please note that not all clothing, such as specialist items and equipment can be purchased with LA Clothing. If you already own some of the equipment listed, we do not require you to repurchase through our own supplier: www.laclothing.co.uk/plumptoncollege
Facility Fee
Each student studying a full-time programme will be expected to pay a facility fee of £150. This fee assists in providing non-educational facilities, including student enrichment and wellbeing activities, Sports and Social Club membership, minibuses, IT support, onsite car parking facilities, and free use of onsite lockers.
14-16 Students
These students will need the essential equipment listed on the usual curriculum area pages for the course they are studying.
Laptops & Tablets
We require all students to have a laptop on a 1-to-1 basis to facilitate flexible learning around the campus and at home. If you do not own a laptop that you can bring into college, you can borrow one on a short-term basis from the self-service lockers in the Library and other areas around the college.
Adventure Education
Full purchase of equipment and uniform for Adventure Education is optional for the first day of your course but will be required throughout. Your course tutor will advise you in advance when you may require these additional uniform items.
Most equipment can be sourced from reputable outdoor clothing suppliers such as Millets, Sports Direct, Cotswold Outdoor etc.

- 14-16 programme students can opt to purchase the same tunics or a blue lab coat.

Material & consumable fees:
We are hugely proud of our department and work hard to achieve great results and success for our students. We invest in the highest quality resources and equipment for your studies to maintain these standards and uphold the College and Departmental values. We need to ask for a percentage of this cost from students and their guardians to ensure we continue to give students the best possible experience.
Whilst we heavily subsidise these costs, with the global rises in the price of fuels and raw materials, unfortunately, as a significant consumer of these materials, we have had to incorporate these new costs into our fees this year. The materials fees for each year of study on your course are: £150
Payment Options
Following your enrolment, an invoice will be issued, complete with instructions on how to make payment in full or, alternatively, set up an instalment plan. The standard instalment plans are as follows:
- Monthly – 7 equal monthly instalments, to be collected on the 1st of September and March
- OR Termly - 3 equal instalments, to be collected on the 1st of September, January and April
If you feel you need more than these standard plans to be viable for yourself, we offer a third non- standard option, whereby we add some earlier (i.e. pre-September) monthly instalments prior to enrolment, spreading the cost over a greater number of months. Blacksmithing & Metalwork
Essential equipment and uniform:

Our Fees Policy states:
Where courses require material/consumables which are essential to complete your study, this will be included in the price of your course fees or, if your course is fully funded, this will be included in the funding. In some cases, the College makes an extra equipment/consumable charge when the student has the opportunity to take work projects away during the course. This will apply to all students, regardless of their fee assessment.
Dog Grooming
You will require all the equipment listed below from Clippit, a biothane groomers kit and scissors to compete the course. You are welcome to source any of the equipment from other suppliers or via second hand avenues.
There are three options for the kit list, supplied by Clippit. Please email paula@clipit-grooming.com to place your order. Do not order online as you will not receive the student discount. (Scissors are not provided in this kit, please see below for instruction as to where you can purchase the scissors).

Equine Management
Essential equipment and uniform:
- All clothing must be plain and dark coloured
- Navy/dark coloured Jodhpurs: (£30 upwards)
- Navy Polo shirts with collar (see LA Clothing website) (£12)
- Navy Sweatshirts/V-neck jumpers (not hooded variety) (£25)
- Plain black gloves are mandatory (£15)
- Schooling whip and jumping whip for riders (£8)
- Correctly fitted hat to current BSI standard/European PAS015/VG1 01.40/ASTM F1163/SNELL E2001/BSEN1384. New hats are advised every five years or following a fall. (£50 upwards)
- Long boots (c£80 upwards) or jodhpur boots & short chaps (full washable chaps are permitted in winter) – no tassels or dubarry style boots for riding or practical lessons, but acceptable for yard activities, bright colours are not allowed – short boots are £40 upwards and £30 upwards for chaps)
- Back/body protection – optional, but compulsory for those doing cross country and BHS Exams at Stage III and above. The back-body protector need not be purchased before September (£100 upwards)
