Beekeeping Taster Day
27 March 2017 15:33 - 15:33
This year’s beekeeping courses at Plumpton College got off to a great start with 19 students on the March Taster Day.
These courses run every month over the spring and summer and introduce potential beekeepers to honeybees. It shows them what they need to do to get started with this great hobby. The day culminates in a session at the Apiary where they can examine one of the beehives and handle frames of bees.
Other courses for beekeepers include a Hive Assembly Day that shows them how to assemble a flat-pack beehive and two more that help them get started on the British Beekeepers’ Association’s Examinations and Assessment framework. Our Beekeeping Tutor, Oliver St.John, can often be seen in the Library in the evenings studying for the exams he needs to pass to be a Master Beekeeper.
