Countryside Management Student wins Top Project Award

George King, Level 3 Countryside Management student won the South of England Agricultural Societies Student Assignment Competition for the Top Project in Further Education at the Ardingly Autumn Show & Game Fair in October. 

George's project on Hedgehog Conservation beat off tough competition from other colleges in the South East to pick up the top award at Level 3. The project was described by judges as a very impressive document, enabling householders to understand what hedgehogs need and how to encourage more of them into gardens. George, 21, from Eastbourne completed the project during the first year of his course and now in his second year George is focused on a long term career in countryside management. 

Programme Manager, Abby Lamb said

“This is a well-deserved award for George who worked incredibly hard on this project. I am sure he has a great future in wildlife and countryside management” 

The Student Assignment Competition is open to all students studying at land-based colleges in the region and is designed to encourage individual research, to improve knowledge and develop study skills. An independent judge is appointed and prizes of £150, £75 and £50 is awarded to the top three entries in each category at a presentation ceremony held at the Autumn Show and Game Fair.
