Forestry team help with local documentary

It's no surprise that Winnie-the-Pooh loves climbing trees, much like our Forestry and Arboriculture Team. They were recently invited to go out on location on the Ashdown Forest to help with the production of Winnie-the-Pooh The World's Most Famous Bear for Channel 4.

Teaching staff at Plumpton College Matthew Moss, Oliver Perry and Dean Bell were asked to help shoot a scene with Alan Titchmarsh on a tree branch looking over the Ashdown Forest, famous as the setting for the Winnie-the-Pooh stories written by A. A. Milne.

The team conducted a safety briefing and risk assessment and were required to use modern arborist climbing techniques to ensure the tree was accessed safely and to have Alan secured in a branch in a way in which it was invisible to the camera. 

The documentary celebrates Winnie-the-Pooh's 90th birthday, exploring Pooh's adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and friends and is available on the Channel 4 website.
