HighGround and Plumpton College provided the first pilot ‘rural week’ for ex forces personnel interested in a career change to the Landbased sector. The residential week consisted of introductory sessions to the Outdoor Education sector; Forestry and Arboriculture; Agriculture; Viticulture; Horticulture; Game Management, Fishery Management; Countryside Management; Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing: Business Training and Self Employment workshops and Careers Development sessions.
All practical sessions were run on the extensive College estate, situated near Brighton, in the centre of the South Downs National Park, with the College’s classrooms used for the workshops.
The pilot week was a great success with the second pilot course already oversubscribed.
