Land Rover Pull
00:00 - 00:00
Plumpton College students held a Land Rover pull challenge with a difference! The aim of the competition is to promote the college and its association with local businesses. However it is more than that, it's also a way to highlight that Mathematics, Physics and Science can be taught by a number of methods. This event conveyed that message to the students but, ultimately, pulling a Land Rover 25 metres is just plain fun combined with much effort!
Local organisations involved with the event included Eastbourne Youth radio, recruitment southeast, Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne Education Business Partnership and Caffyns. Staff from the Adventure Education (Sport) Department at the College organised this exciting event, strongly supported by student teams from the Agriculture, Forestry and Machinery departments.
Dave Rafferty, Lecturer for the Degree programme in Outdoor Adventurous Activities at Plumpton College said, “We are very grateful to all the schools and colleges in East Sussex involved in the challenge, as well as organisations and sponsors for help with this stimulating and fun student activity. The Land Rover was generously supplied by local dealership Caffyns of Lewes and proved a generous offer from their fantastic range of Range Rover and Land Rover vehicles.”
The winners will be announced live on the Youth radio show, 87.7 FM, broadcast on 20th November.
