SPORT ACADEMIES: Weekly Report 3rd Oct
Written by 19 September 2018 09:43 - 09:43
This week saw another great turn out for our Sports Academies and the matches have now begun to kick off.
Football Academy
The Plumpton Men's Football Academy displayed true determination and grit today in their first football match of the season. Each member played their hardest game, battling a team that was far more experienced and seasoned in the game. Freddie was team captain of the match and he illustrated great support and leadership to the team. After a grueling 90 minutes, Plumpton didn't manage to grab the win, but played a fantastic game with two of our own, Stephen and Henry, winning "Man of the Match."
Rugby Academy
Our Rugby Academy had an interesting turn of events as they arrived at Varndean for a friendly match alongside Collyer's who had also turned up for a friendly match! The game turned into a combined team of Varndean and Plumpton vs Collyers. Another of ours, Phil, won Man of the Match and the scoreboard swung both ways throughout the match, but saw us coming home with a 21-17 win.
Sailing Academy
Our Sailing Academy saw 22 sailors launch today in a conference T2 with prospective constructors. The guys spent the afternoon racing with Harry leading the fleet around the first two marks, but was overtaken when his rigging failed. Harvey managed to grab first place, with Max in second and Hugo in third. The team then rounded up with free sailing for the rest of the afternoon.
Enrichment
Finally, our cross college enrichment was tennis and football where a wide variety of students joined in and had a fantastic time. Next week is volleyball!
