Supported Internship Success Story: Izzy

Izzy's Story 

Name: Izzy Coates
Course: Supported Internship 

Izzy joined Plumpton College from Brighton MET for help to find work in childcare.

When Izzy started in September, she was very quiet. We worked with Izzy to help build her confidence by engaging her with a City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Customer Service (which she received a first class pass). Izzy also sourced a work placement with Hilltop Nursery in Brighton, which has helped boost her confidence. Izzy is happier and her attitude has improved tenfold.

Izzy has impressed Hilltop Nursery so much that they have decided to offer her a paid position on their Bank Staff team that we hope will progress in to a permanent role at the nursery.

Izzy’s coach says: Amy has been job coaching Izzy and says that she works hard, has fitted in to the team well and her timekeeping is great. “Izzy has done really well and I think she will make a great addition at the nursery.”

Outcome: Izzy has completed all learning aspects of her Supported Internship (health and safety unit and customer service course). She has also achieved paid work through her placement at Hilltop Nursery. Very well done on all of her hard work!

What’s next for Izzy: We hope that Izzy will continue to flourish and progress at Hilltop Nursery and will eventually become a permanent member of their team.
