Two students named finalists of the Learner of the Year awards!

Two students from Plumpton College have been nominated for the prestigious Lantra Learner of the Year awards and have achieved the remarkable feat of becoming finalists in this highly competitive competition. The Lantra awards recognise outstanding achievements and dedication in the land-based and environmental industries, and this recognition is a testament to the passion exhibited by these two exceptional students.

Congratuations Sophie Walker - Veterinary Nursing.

Congratulations Charlie Kifford - Agriculture. Charlie has also been announced as one of only five adults students in the country shortlisted for the AoC Student of the Year Awards.

The Lantra Learner of the Year awards aim to highlight the exceptional contributions of individuals like Sarah and Jack in these vital industries. After being nominated, both students had to undergo a rigorous selection process to reach the finals, competing against a multitude of candidates from colleges and institutions across the UK.

The Lantra awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday 22nd November 2023, where the winners will be announced. Charlie and Sophie, along with the rest of the Plumpton College community, will eagerly await the outcome, whilst knowing that being named finalists is a significant achievement in itself.

Both alumni will continue to be ambassadors for the college and the land-based industry as a whole, with their exemplary dedication and enthusiasm for their subject shining through.

As our Principal, Jeremy Kerswell, says "every one of our students has that potential within them – its down to us to unlock it".

Good luck to Charlie and Sophie!
