Do you have a passion for supporting students with SEND? Are you eager to help young people overcome barriers to learning? Plumpton College is seeking a dedicated Key Learning Mentor to join our Inclusive Learning and Development team! 

Role Overview: 

As a Key Learning Mentor, your primary responsibility will be to support students in overcoming personal, social, and emotional barriers to learning. You will be instrumental in helping students with SEND achieve their academic goals, develop employability skills, and improve retention and progression rates. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Holistic Student Support: Provide tailored support to students with SEND, focusing on personal, social, and emotional needs. 
  • Welfare and Pastoral Care: Help students access welfare services and ensure their retention and achievement through effective pastoral support. 
  • Collaboration: Liaise with Student Services, counselling, financial aid, and external agencies to address students' needs. 
  • Event Participation: Assist in college events such as taster days and parents' evenings. 
  • Intervention and Personalisation: Deliver intervention work to personalise student learning experiences. 
  • Monitoring and Action: Track student progress, attendance, and punctuality, implementing actions when necessary. 

Ideal Candidate: 

Essential Experience: 

  • Experience working with young people with SEND. 
  • Background in welfare, pastoral care, or safeguarding. 

Skills Required: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Strong IT skills. 
  • Minimum Level 2 in literacy and numeracy. 

Desirable: 

  • Experience supporting students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) or health needs.
